As informed last year, tomorrow, Thursday 6th September, is the first of our Thursday afternoon 2pm closures for students in Years 8 – 11. As stated in the letter sent out in March 2018 the reasons for adopting this timetable are as below:

Consultation on a change to the school day on Thursdays from September 2018

In common with the other Archway Learning Trust secondary academies in Nottingham, we are proposing to finish the formal school day at 2.00pm, an hour earlier, every Thursday from September 2018. Teachers will then begin an afternoon of training and development, both at Beechdale and with colleagues from across Archway Learning Trust including the nearby Bluecoat Aspley and Wollaton sites who have operated this model successfully for a number of years now. This additional time will be used by staff to plan together top-quality lessons for students throughout the week. Students in Years 8 to 11 that are meeting our expectations in relation to behaviour and learning will be free to go home at that time.

For Year 7 students, the enrichment programme will be compulsory and they will remain on site in the academy until 3:00pm as usual.
