Bluecoat Beechdale Academy has clear and strict guidelines on dress code, we pride ourselves on high standards and all students are expected to wear the Academy uniform detailed below. The wearing of our distinctive uniform gives students a sense of belonging and helps foster a pride in the Academy. Please ensure your child has the correct uniform every day.
Academy Uniform
- A BBA blazer
- A BBA clip-on tie
- A black V neck jumper is optional underneath blazer – no cardigans
- A white school shirt with top button fastened
- Black tailored trousers (non-stretchy, not skinny) or black knee-length skirt (non-stretchy) – skirts must be worn with tights, not socks.
- Black or white ankle socks (not knee length) – to be worn with black trousers only.
- Flat leather-look black shoes – no boots or sandals.
- A wrist watch is optional – no smart watches.
PE Uniform
- BBA PE Top
- BBA PE Shorts
- Plain Black Jogging Bottoms
- Plain Black Sweatshirt
- Trainers
PE staff have the discretion to make decisions about appropriate dress.

Additional Uniform Rules
Students are not permitted to wear:
- Hoodies
- Jeans or leggings
- Hats
- Jewellery (including all piercings, bracelets and necklaces)
- Smart watches
- Make-up including false eyelashes
- Nail polish or false nails
- Trainers
Students are not permitted to dye their hair non-natural colour (e.g. blue, green).

Purchasing Uniform
Our Academy uniform is only available to be purchased online directly through the Just-Schoolwear website:
Orders placed through Just-Schoolwear will be available for home delivery, Click & Collect from Bluecoat Beechdale Academy or one of the Just-Schoolwear shops. For Click & Collect orders Just-Schoolwear will notify you when your order is ready to collect from the shop or the Academy.
We carry a small stock of discounted “Nearly New” Uniform which can be purchased via the School Shop in Arbor.
Equipment
Students are expected to bring their equipment every day.
- A school bag – all students are expected to carry a suitable bag, large enough to carry their equipment, as well as their PE kit (as necessary) around the Academy. A rucksack is the most suitable type of bag.
- A black pen
- A pencil
- A ruler

In addition, Years 9, 10 and 11 must also bring a scientific calculator. The recommended model is the Casio FX-83 GT.
Equipment will be checked in form time every morning. Students who do not have the correct equipment will receive a 30 minute detention.
Reading books can be borrowed from the school library.
