At Bluecoat Beechdale Academy we believe in listening to students and parents thoughts and opinions about our Academy in order to cater to our students needs and provide them with the best possible education.
Parents have the opportunity to complete a feedback survey at each Progress Evening in order to share their views. Parents can also share their views by contacting the Academy office via email firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone, 01159135211.
Progress evenings are an opportunity for parents to speak directly with their child’s subject teachers to gain a better understanding of their progress, attitude to learning and how they can do even better at school.
This academic year we have introduced parent questionnaires to help us to understand what we are doing well, and what we can do to support your children even more. We see this as a valuable opportunity to communicate with and learn from parents.
Progress Evenings also provide parents with an opportunity to see their child’s reports which have been redesigned to enable parents to have a clearer understanding of student progress, attendance and how students can improve.
We appreciate how difficult it can be to attend Progress Evenings, especially when managing collection of children from other schools, child care and work commitments. To support families, we are now providing complimentary food and hot and cold drinks throughout the evening.
It is really important to us that students feel they are rewarded well and appropriately for the things they do brilliantly at Bluecoat Beechdale Academy.
We conducted a student voice activity focusing on how we reward students in the autumn term. Students said they like our ‘stars’ system which rewards students for their attitude to learning, behaviour, attendance and punctuality. Students are able to cash their stars in to collect prizes that they want.
The majority of students feel they are rewarded well for their behaviour and for their work in lessons.
Following this student voice we will be offering some different prizes for students to choose from and we have restructured how we will run trips for good attendance. Taking the advice of our students, we will be rewarding those students with 100% attendance with an end of the year trip and offering a different excursion to those who don’t have 100% attendance but who do have attendance that can be described as excellent. We will be providing more details about this in the weeks to come.
