Community Hub
In January 2026 we unveilled our newly created ReWild Yourself Community Hub and School Forest, developed in partnership with ReWild Yourself, SUGi, and proudly supported by The ERANDA Rothschild Foundation. More than just a pocket forest, this vibrant new space is a thriving natural landscape designed to enhance local biodiversity, support wellbeing, and help our school community reconnect with the outdoors. Created with input from students, staff, families, and community partners, the hub is set to become a cherished place to explore, learn, play, gather, and grow together. It also marks a key milestone – our school is now home to Nottingham’s very first ERANDA Forest, demonstrating the Trust’s growing commitment to environmental enrichment across its academies.
Our ReWild Yourself Community Hub, honoured with the Nottingham Wildlife Trust’s Wilder School Award, offers a dedicated space for nature connection and mindfulness, wellbeing activities and hands-on learning about climate resilience and green skills. Community members also have the opportunity to share ideas and help shape how the space evolves over time.
The forest was planted in partnership with SUGi, working closely with the ReWild Yourself team and students from both Bluecoat Beechdale Academy and Bluecoat Primary Academy. Local groups from across Nottingham also joined the planting effort, ensuring the project was grounded in community ownership and shared enthusiasm.
The new ERANDA Forest features 3,000 native species, including blackthorn, oak, and crab apple, planted using the innovative Miyawaki method. This approach enhances soil health, uses dense planting to speed up forest growth and promotes self-sustaining ecosystems. To support rapid establishment, locally sourced compost and hay bales were added to enrich the soil, ensuring a strong foundation for long-term ecological success.
The ReWild Yourself Community Hub stand as a powerful example of what urban rewilding can achieve. This initiative delivers immediate benefits for wellbeing, biodiversity, and climate resilience, while showcasing how schools, communities, and global partners can work together to create meaningful, lasting environmental change.

Climate Action Plan
Taking a structured, well‑led approach to sustainability is essential for creating lasting, positive change. A strong Climate Action Plan helps us build confidence and expertise across our staff and students, improve energy and resource efficiency, reduce our carbon emissions, and increase our resilience to the impacts of climate change. It also enables us to protect and enhance local biodiversity, embed sustainability into everyday school life, and equip our learners with the knowledge and green skills they need for the future. By bringing together all our environmental actions under one coherent strategy, we can ensure our school community plays an active role in shaping a greener, more sustainable future.
