Congratulations to the 2018 Year 11 cohort on their GCSE results. As a collective, they have continued our trend for improved outcomes in the core subjects. In particular, we are delighted by the overall improvements in English, Maths and the Ebacc (Science, Languages and Humanities) subjects, compared to previous years.
As well as considering the outcomes of the students as a collective group, there are individual students that have been very successful. We have students attaining the highest possible grades (grade 9) and the equivalent of A’s and A*’s in Maths, English and Science. We also have students that have overcome significant challenges to attain grades that, for them, represent a tremendous achievement and real progress over the last few years.
It is also worth noting that we have welcomed a number of students into this particular cohort (approximately 17% of the year group) who, for a range of reasons such as being educated abroad, did not have the Primary school data required to make their achievements contribute fully to our academy statistics. However, we feel equally proud of their results and congratulate them on the many top grades they also achieved.
