Meet Your Year Leader – Mrs Bromley
Hello and Welcome,
I will be your Head of Year as you go through Bluecoat Beechdale Academy. My name is Mrs Bromley and I have already spoken to many of you over the phone. I am looking forward to welcoming a whole new year group to the Academy and getting to know each one of you. I will be here to help you as you start at your new Academy, and to support you as you enjoy life around the School.
A little bit about me
I am a very active person; I enjoy cycling, running, swimming and sometimes I will do each event competitivley. I also play both hockey and basketball for clubs which play competitivley in local ‘County Leagues’.
What is your favourite book and why?
I enjoy reading and I have lost myself in a variety of books. I have always enjoyed autobiograhical books, as I am very interested in the lives of other people and what motivates them. I also adore fictional books as they have the ability to take me to a different time or place.
How long have you worked at BBA?
I have been at Bluecoat Beechdale Academy for five years. I have spent the last four years working with Year 11 Students, it is going to be a real pleasure to start with a new fresh group of students who I will hopefully watch slowly grow and develop into strong young adults.
What subject do you teach?
I no longer teach, but I used to be a Physical Education teacher. I have always enjoyed the pastoral side of teaching, so now love having the time to be a Year Leader – helping young people to get the best out of themselves.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
I have always lived by the advice of “have fun and enjoy every day”.
I firmly believe that there is fun to be had in everything you do, and if you enjoy what you are doing, you will always complete it to the best of your ability – nobody can ever ask or expect more than that.
I look forward to meeting with each and everyone of you, and starting your journey here at BBA. Have a fantastic Summer – I hope you are all excited to begin here at Bluecoat Beechdale Academy.
Meet Our Transition Lead – Miss Grange
My name is Miss Grange and I am the Transition Lead at Bluecoat Beechdale Academy. I have been responsible for transition for a number of years and have lots of experience in supporting students to make a successful transition from primary to secondary school. My role includes liaising with local primary schools to gather information about the students that will be joining in September and coordinating our plans to ensure students have a successful start to their time at Bluecoat Beechdale. I hope that you all have a lovely Summer and I am looking forward to meeting you all in the next academic year.
As well as the videos referred to above, you can always click on the ‘Who’s Who’ Section of our website for some names and pictures of both SLT, pastoral staff and subject leaders. The page can be found by clicking HERE.

Students are assigned to a specific ‘House’ when they first join the Academy, and they remain in that ‘House’ for the whole time at Bluecoat Beechdale Academy.
Each Year every ‘House’ is appointed a ‘Student Head of House’ and a ‘Staff Head of House’.
Throughout each year at BBA, every department will run ‘House competitions’.
On the last day of the Summer Term BBA finishes off with a whole school ‘Sports Day’ at Harvey Hadden Stadium where all four ‘Houses’ compete against each other for the ‘Sports Day Cup’. – This is fun, as you get to see your Teachers and Tutors run, everyone gets involved.
List of Houses:
The ‘House’ System is split into four categories as below;
