At Bluecoat Beechdale Academy we believe student leadership is one of the central strands of student achievement. Learning is not something that is done to us, it is a collaborative process with adults and students working in partnership. At Bluecoat Beechdale Academy we believe that the more engaged you are in your school the more likely you are to succeed and we aim to involve our students so that they are settled into and committed to their school community and are exceptionally proud of it.
Getting our leadership right is critical as we want students to enthusiastically participate in a broad range of activities, many of which they organise themselves and all pupils are actively encouraged to lead.
Our leadership model has 2 central tiers:
- The leadership from our Head Boy and Girl and their respective Deputies.
- Student Ambassadors – students that champion one key aspect of academy life.
To deliver this model effectively students run and lead meetings and events in the academy across all age groups. The Academy Ambassadors have prioritised 7 key areas which drive the academy forward.
- Peer Mentoring
- Christian Young Leaders
- Ambassador Groups
- Culture and Attitude
- Teaching and Learning
